Slurl your location guide to SecondLife

If have a place on SecondLife you should let other people know where to go and Slurl is here to help.

What is SLurl?

SLurl provides direct teleport links to locations in Second Life. If you have Second Life installed, clicking on the map link will automatically teleport you to that location in-world.

Why use SLurl?

In addition to allowing customized control over mapping locations in Second Life, SLurl also provides a better experience for web users who don't have Second Life. Instead of getting an error when clicking on web links that begin with "secondlife://", visiting a SLurl link gives potential new users a chance to sign up.

Its pretty cool, if I had a really cool coffee lounge I would want people to be able to find it right away and this tool makes it easy to do so.

New Ways of Making Money Banned in Second Life

Up to last month people in SL where easily able to find a game of poker, slots or other games. Now SL following US regulations has banned all gambling on there site. With the new ban many enteurperneurs are starting their own backdoor card rooms. Many of which are finding unique places to hold their games.

I am sure that it will be very hard to stop the gambling, but I am very curious to see what will happen in the near future. Like what would happen if the servers were running in a country that allowed gambling?

Yelp.com

Lately a lot of people have been talking about Yelp. They are an online services that provides reviews on everything from good restaurant to excellent salons.

My girlfriend is the one that turned me on to this site, it seems like everywhere we go now is from yelp. The part that she likes the most is being able to see customer reviews, if a place has a good review she is more likely to go to that place. What I find very interesting is that she has not ever written a review herself but takes the reviews to heart.

A New Jersey teenager has figured out how to make Apple's iPhone available on other wireless services besides AT&T, removing a major frustration for thousands of consumers.

And in an exclusive interview on CNBC, 17-year-old George Hotz revealed his motivation for unlocking the device: "It was fun."

"This was a good use of a summer," he said during the live interview Friday afternoon. "I became obsessed with unlocking this thing."

When Apple introduced the iPhone in July, it made the device available only on AT&T's wireless service, prompting widespread complaints among consumers. Hotz was able to unlock the device so that he can use it on his family's T-Mobile service.

The Next "Home Computer"

As everyday goes on, computers become more and more part of our life. With Microsofts new Surface computer it will even be a bigger part of our life.

The Surface computer will allow you to have a tabletop computer, that can display pictures, show you directions and enhance your home experience.

One of the key features that I like the best, is that you would be able to put your digital camera/Zune/Cell Phone on top of the screen and it would automatically start downloading your pictures to the screen for later use or for viewing now.

Woot.com

Wikipedia - " Woot is an Internet retailer based in the Dallas suburb of Carrollton, Texas. It was founded by electronics wholesaler Matt Rutledge and debuted on July 12, 2004[2]. Woot was one of the early pioneers of the "One deal a day" business model on the internet. Woot offers one discounted product each day on its web site, woot.com. The product is available for 24 hours; it "expires" at midnight (US Central time) and is replaced by a different product for the next day. For the first several months of operation, the site only offered a new item from Monday to Friday, with Friday's item carrying over until Monday at 12:00AM, or until all items were sold. In 2005, Woot began offering products 7 days a week.

Woot has a community of customers who share their opinions on the site’s forums. Products vary but tend to emphasize computer components and electronic gadgets.

Woot takes its name from the widely-used online interjection “w00t!”. Each product sold is referred to as the "woot.""

I have personally never bought anything from Woot but many of my friends rave about how good the pricing is and the ease of using the site.
